The Altoona Academy of Tae Kwon-Do was founded in 1988 as a traditional
Korean martial arts school.

TAE KWON-DO is the Korean art of self-defense. It was developed in 1946 by
General Choi Hong Hi in what is now the Republic of South Korea. Tae Kwon-Do
is the most popular form of Karate in the world and is currently being taught to 50
million students in over 70 countries.

Mission Statement
As lifelong students of martial arts, the instructors at the Altoona Academy of Tae
Kwon-Do seek to provide the finest instruction in physical conditioning and
self-defense in order to provide balance between mind and body, and to promote
health and harmony their students.

Philosophy
It is the policy of the Altoona Academy of Tae Kwon-Do, inc., its owners,
instructors, and agents to endorse Martial Arts for Defensive purposes only. Students
are directed to use physical resistance if they feel threatened and only as a last resort.
Unprovoked, careless, or deliberate acts of violence WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.
This type of behavior will be dealt with in a swift fashion, up to and including
dismissal from the program.
